Startup Advisory Expert Roster

This opening is to establish a roster of experts with relevant experience to provide consultancy services to support GGGI implementing our activities to promote green innovative start-ups. No vacancy is yet available at the moment but qualified candidates who submit applications to the roster will be informed and considered when the opportunity arises.

Based in Seoul, The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is an intergovernmental organization founded to support and promote a model of economic growth known as "green growth", which targets key aspects of economic performance such a poverty reduction, job creation, social inclusion, and environmental sustainability. GGGI works with countries around the world, building their capacity and working collaboratively on green growth policies that can impact the lives of millions. The organization partners with countries, multilateral institutions, government bodies, and private sector to help build economies that grow strongly and are more efficient and sustainable in the use of natural resources, less carbon intensive, and more resilient to climate change.

Since 2012, GGGI has been working with the Vietnamese government on the development and implementation of Viet Nam’s Green Growth Strategy. GGGI’s office is embedded within the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), the focal point of green growth policy in Viet Nam. In addition to the collaboration with MPI, GGGI has since expanded the country program to cover three priorities for green growth in Viet Nam; green finance, clean energy and urban green growth, with the Ministry of Industry & Trade (MOIT), Ministry of Construction (MOC), Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment (MONRE), Ministry of Finance (MOF), and other government institutions.

 

In 2020-2021, GGGI Viet Nam will work with the Government and other relevant stakeholders in designing support policy measures and incentives for green innovative start-ups as well as implementing activities such as acceleration and training programs in green areas including renewable energy, energy efficiency, circular economy, resource efficiency and others. GGGI will work with policy makers as well as businesses and investors to achieve this.

Scope of Work

 

This is a roster for experts providing advisory to support start-ups, specifically in the following areas:

  1. Policy Advisory Outputs: Deliver advisory outputs to GGGI, the government and other relevant partners on relevant government support measures and incentives to promote green innovative start-ups
  2. Training to start-ups: Provide training to startups as part of our acceleration programs, including potentially targeted intense training sessions for selected start-ups and/or series of standard trainings for start-ups such as on business models, financial management etc.
  3. Start-up Financing: Provide advisory services on startup financing including seeking grants and seed funding.

Qualifications/Experience/Expertise 

 

  • At least a Master degree in Business Management, Finance, Banking, Economics, or other related fields. Relevant Bachelor degree can also be considered with significant relevant professional experience.
  • At least 5-7 years of relevant professional experience in the field of developing and supporting green/innovative SMEs and startups
  • Demonstrated extensive experience in entrepreneurship, business operation and development, or fund management
  • Experience in consulting on green innovative businesses such as in renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste, transportation, and other green solutions is an advantage.
  • Relevant experience in in Southeast Asia and emerging markets is an asset
  • Excellent writing and communication skills. Fluency in English is required, other language skill is an advantage.
