INTRODUCTION TO GGGI

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is a treaty-based international, inter-governmental organization dedicated to supporting and promoting strong, inclusive and sustainable economic growth in developing countries and emerging economies. To learn more please visit about GGGI web page. 

In the Sultanate of Oman, GGGI has partnered with the Government through the leadership of the Environment Authority (EA) to develop the "Accelerating Resilience and Innovation for Sustainable Ecosystems management" (ARISE) Program . The ARISE Program is a USD 100 million initiative spanning six years, designed to deliver climate action, ecosystem restoration, and economic growth through Nature-based Solutions (NbS) integrated into the Bioeconomy and Sustainable Special Economic Zones (SSEZs) . The program ultimately targets the restoration of 30,000 hectares of land, an estimated 750,000 tCO2e/year in greenhouse gas emission reductions, and the creation of over 1,000 green jobs. The implementation of the ARISE Program is structured around two phases. Phase 1 will cover 2 years, and Phase 2 will be over 4 years. The funding has been approved for Phase 1.

POSITION SUMMARY

Based in Salalah, in Dhofar Governorate, Oman, the Senior Program Assistant will provide essential administrative, logistical, and programmatic support to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation for the ARISE Program. Reporting directly to the ARISE Program Lead (Chief of Party), the Senior Program Assistant will be the backbone of the office, coordinating internal and external meetings, managing travel itineraries, processing documentation, and assisting the broader technical team in executing program activities effectively and efficiently.

PURPOSE
  • Take responsibility for day-to-day administrative and logistical activities needed for the successful implementation of the ARISE Program in Salalah.
  • Provide comprehensive logistical support in the organization and delivery of program-related events, including the Program Steering Committee (PSC), Program Management Committee (PMC), regional workshops, training sessions, and high-level stakeholder meetings.
  • Ensure consistency and quality across technical documents, reports, and presentations. 
  • Contribute to research, analysis, and stakeholder engagement across the public and private sectors. 
  • Support internal reporting, monitoring, and knowledge management tasks 
  • Perform administrative support including note-taking, agenda development, calendar updates, and the maintenance of an organized program filing system.
ENGAGEMENT
  • Reports directly to the Chief of Party - ARISE Program Lead and works closely with the broader technical team.
  • Collaborates actively with internal technical teams to ensure that workshops, training sessions, and meetings’ smooth delivery.
  • Coordinates with GGGI’s Regional Office (RO-MENA) and HQ teams for administrative alignment, travel approvals, and general operational compliance.
  • Engages with Omani government stakeholders (e.g., Environment Authority, Dhofar Municipality) and local community partners to facilitate meeting arrangements, protocol, and correspondence.
  • Liaises with external vendors and service providers (e.g., hotels, travel agencies, event venues) to ensure smooth logistical support for program activities.
  • Represent the program in meetings, workshops, and calls as delegated, ensuring effective follow-up and timely documentation. 
DELIVERY
  • Maintained project work plans, calendars, and task trackers aligned with approved timelines. 
  • Regular coordination updates and meeting summaries shared with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Drafted, proofread, and formatted technical documents, presentations, talking points, and briefing notes for internal and external use in both English and Arabic. 
  • Logistical support and documentation for program workshops, trainings, and bilateral stakeholder engagements. 
  • Compiled post-event reports, participant lists, and action items for follow-up. 
  • Contributed to quality assurance processes, ensuring alignment with GGGI standards and donor requirements. 
  • Maintained records of program activities and outputs to support reporting to Omani government, GGGI and other stakeholders. 
  • Provided inputs to progress and donor reports, including data consolidation and visualization. 
  • Maintained a live contact list of program stakeholders, partners, and beneficiaries. 
  • Supported the preparation of knowledge-sharing materials, visibility content, and documentation of lessons learned 
  • Other relevant tasks may be agreed on separately.  
REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in environment, sustainable development, climate change, public policy and relevant subject, Advance degree is an advantage. 
  • A minimum of 2 to 4 years of relevant professional experience in office administration, logistics, event coordination, or project support. Experience with international organizations, NGOs, or government agencies is a strong advantage.
  • Preferred at least 2 to 4 years of experience in climate change, sustainability data analysis, ESG reporting, policy implementation, program management or other fields relevant to this assignment.  
  • Experience in day-to-day engagement with Government ministries and agencies. Specific experience with commercial banks is a distinct advantage. 
  • Experience in organizing consultations, validation meetings, workshops, and capacity building events. 
  • Experience in organizing and managing technical training and workshops.  
  • Experience working in developing countries.  
  • Good level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS Teams), and familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems is a plus.
  • Exceptional analytical, writing, and presentation skills in English are required.
  • Fluency in Arabic is an asset for this role and is highly desirable.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The Program Assistant is an G5NAT grade level in GGGI's national salary scale, details of which can be found in the GGGI Staff Regulations on GGGI’s website. In addition, GGGI provides 27 days of annual leave, flexible work arrangements and contribution towards private health insurance that covers dental and vision. The appointment is for 24 months, renewable subject to satisfactory performance and budget availability.
