Project background
The Paris Agreement provides a comprehensive framework for signatory Parties to reach an ambitious commitment to limit the increase in global average temperature to well below 2°C, and to pursue efforts to limit the increase to 1.5°C in a cooperative manner. This framework covers a number of instruments including cooperative approaches under Article 6 which allows signatory countries (and private sector entities authorized by these countries) to engage in international carbon transactions. The Carbon Finance Department (CFD) of GGGI is a global leader in Article 6 international carbon trading technical assistance, implementing several programs since 2019 related to preparing and supporting countries in trading, opening up international carbon markets. The resultant flow of transactions is envisaged to build a robust and reliable global price for carbon, something many areas of the private sector have long called for as a way to motivate the transformational change needed to achieve the ambitious goals of Paris.
In 2024 GGGI launched the Carbon Transaction Facility (CTF), GGGI’s programmatic approach to scaling up international carbon trading under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement. The CTF encompasses the Article 6 Readiness Facility and multiple Carbon Funds. While the Readiness Facility is focused on providing technical assistance and increasing readiness for Article 6 trading at host country level, Carbon Funds primarily seek to channel carbon finance to developing countries through the purchase of Internationally Transferred Mitigation Outcomes (ITMOs) generated from mitigation activities implemented in GGGI Member and Partner host countries.
Objectives of the assignment
The Strategic Hub for Article 6 Readiness Exchange (SHARE) is a global project under the CTF Readiness Facility, functioning as the knowledge hub of the CTF, supporting knowledge production and exchanges on Article 6 and carbon markets. Following project initiation in late 2025 / early 2026, several foundational activities and workstreams are under implementation within a compressed timeline. The first year of implementation is particularly critical, as it will shape the longer-term delivery approach of the SHARE project as well as broader knowledge-sharing activities under the CTF Readiness Facility. Given the concurrent setup of multiple workstreams, stakeholder coordination requirements, and delivery timelines, additional short-term implementation support capacity is required to ensure effective project execution and timely delivery of key outputs.
A major activity under the project in 2026 is the delivery of SHARE’s flagship global conference (Global Article 6 Forum 2026: A Community of Practice in Action) in October 2026, which will bring together more than 50 international guests and hundreds of participants over four days. The event will serve as a key platform for global knowledge exchange, partnership building, and dissemination of lessons learned related to Article 6 readiness and implementation. Given the high visibility of the conference and the significant logistics coordination requirements involving international participants, partners, and service providers, dedicated support capacity is essential to ensure smooth delivery while maintaining progress across parallel project workstreams.
GGGI is looking for a Junior Consultant who can support the planning and execution of this flagship annual conference and delivery of other key foundational activities under the project.
Deliverables and payment schedule
The Consultant will support the successful delivery of the SHARE project’s 2026 flagship event and other outputs related to dissemination and knowledge exchanges, working under the guidance of the Project Manager and in close collaboration with the project team.
Event Logistics Preparation and Management Support
- Content & Materials Preparation: Assist the team in drafting, consolidating, and organizing conference materials, briefing notes, and background documentation. Coordinate with the sessions leads and participants. Support the dissemination of the different SHARE knowledge production workstreams at the annual conference.
- Project Tracking & Vendor Management: Assist the team with logistics planning for the 2026 conference; maintain trackers for deliverables, monitor risks, and coordinate directly with all relevant stakeholders.
- On-Site Event Delivery: Support the team with on-site troubleshooting between GGGI, stakeholders, and the event management firm during the 4-day conference to ensure smooth execution.
- Reporting & Communications: Support post-event reporting, compile lessons learned, coordinate follow-up stakeholder outreach, and contribute to project visibility/communications activities.
Technical and Coordination support to SHARE dissemination and communication
- Support the Project Manager on the overall coordination of the SHARE project, including internal Knowledge Management.
- Support the development of ongoing knowledge products and their dissemination at conferences and events.
- Undertake specific research and analytical tasks to support the implementation / initiation of workstreams.
- Support the Project Manager and team in capturing the lessons learned from the implementation of SHARE workstreams terminating this year, in close collaboration with the CFD Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) focal point.
- Undertake additional tasks relevant to the successful delivery of the project, as assigned by the Project Manager.
GGGI shall pay the Consultant on a monthly basis for the actual number of days worked in a calendar month according to the terms and conditions of the Contract and upon certification by GGGI that the services have been satisfactorily performed. The Consultant shall submit a monthly invoice to GGGI at the beginning of each month for the days worked in the previous month using the template provided.
Expertise required
Experience & Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Science or a related field required.
- 1-2 years of relevant professional experience supporting sustainability- and climate change -related projects and event coordination, preferred.
- Experience organizing and delivering large international conferences in Korea, including speaker and participant engagement management, required.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or coordinating government delegations, including liaison with ministries, embassies, or public-sector counterparts.
- Familiarity with official protocol and formal procedures related to high-level meetings, government representatives, and international delegations.

- A proactive attitude, with an ability to find workable solutions promptly. (Demonstrates resourcefulness when handling unexpected vendor or logistical changes).
- Punctual, professional, and ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines within a compressed project implementation timeline.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with multicultural and interdisciplinary staff, as well as international delegates and external vendors.
- Exceptional organizational skills with proven ability to maintain tracking systems, spreadsheets, and registration databases with high attention to detail.
- High digital proficiency, including experience with modern collaboration platforms (e.g., Microsoft Loop/Teams) and an aptitude for utilizing AI tools/prompt engineering for data synthesis.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Korean for professional correspondence with high-level stakeholders. To efficiently support event coordination, fluent Korean written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Understanding of international cooperation and climate change topics required.
